Time Saving Tip: How to Get Ready in Half Hour
Posted on 30. Dec, 2009 by Mary Lutz in Time Savers
In my last post I told you I was going to show you how to get ready in under half and hour. Now I’m not just talking about hair and makeup. I’m talking getting ready from shower to makeup to fully clothed. Ready? Follow each of the steps in the order indicated and you too can be ready for the day in half hour or less.
Showertime – 10 minutes or less
- Shampoo and rinse.
- Apply conditioner and leave in.
- Wash face with facial cleanser and rinse.
- Wash entire body with one application of body wash on a loofa and rinse.
- Save legs and arm pits (optional, adds 2 to 4 minutes)
- Rinse conditioner from hair.
- Step out and towel dry off body and wrap hair in towel.
Personal hygiene-15 minutes or less
- Using disposable flossers, floss teeth
- Pre-rinse teeth with mouthwash.
- While swishing mouthwash, apply deodorant and facial moisturizer and eye cream
- Spit out mouthwash and brush teeth, rinse.
- Remove towel from hair.
- Apply curling spray or gel and scrunch, or brush through hair and allow to air dry.
- Apply body lotion to entire body
- Apply makeup. I use foundation, powder, blush, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara and lip gloss.
Getting dressed-5 minutes or less
- Preselect clothes either before you go to bed, or think about what you’re going to wear while in the shower or attending to your personal hygiene needs. If you don’t know what you’re going to wear, this can add anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes to your prep time….trust me, I too have stood in the closet staring blankly at the clothes on the hangers for minutes on end.
- Get dressed.
Sometimes I like to blow dry my hair, especially if I’m going to leave right after I get ready. This adds about 3 minutes time, and I only partially dry it so it won’t get frizzy and remains wavy. I realize not everyone can leave their hair to air dry or only blow dry it partially. If you have to style your hair every day, try to find ways in which you can do it in a shorter amount of time.
What time saving tricks do you have for getting ready for the day?
